profession. Only as an
association with thousands speaking as one can any profession raise its
standards of excellence, and improve its image in society.
"In unity there is strength" is more than a cliche, it is
a means to an end. A method
by which SOLE, through its individual logisticians, can elevate its
stature, improve its image, and present a unified face to the professional
and Industrial world.
Everyone can
contribute to improving the field of logistics, and everyone can benefit
from the experts in its varied fields.

and symposia which cover the spectrum from preparation of a request for
proposal to financial or life cycle cost management.
It gives him the ability to meet and discuss mutual problems and
solutions with managers In similar fields and a chance to hear and
question acknowledged experts in the various logistics disciplines.
It also provides the opportunity to read or author articles which
outline problems or propose unique solutions to persistent problems.
THE LOGISTICS

people who have had experiences that are similar to his.
He also meets people who have had problems different from his and

He will have
the opportunity to pursue reliability and maintainability innovations
described in the society's scientific and technical journals, specialized
workshops and symposia, and chapter programs featuring internationally
recognized experts on the subject.
He will be
able to add his weight to that of SOLE in endorsing the philosophy that
the logistics support program must be initiated during the concept

and preparation for economical and effective support of the product.

Increasing
emphasis on distribution management is being given through the publication
of technical papers in Logistics Spectrum, the society's quarterly
